Cute novella. Read in an afternoon.
Never before have the words, "Sorry, dude" found such a darkly hilarious context.

There is something gritty and unnerving about this book that makes it crawl a little on the skin. Not being a fan of the Vampire genre, I wasn't really expecting to enjoy it as much as I did. This tale pulls no punches. The swift and casual prose drifts calmly over a raw examination of human apathy and cruelty.

Unvamped is an un-glamorized take on vamps that could totally kick Twilight's ass in a bar fight.
Excellent book, I really wish there had been a lot more of it.

First and foremost I am a lover of vampire books.

Even though I am a huge fan of twilight and the vamps that sparkle, I really enjoyed this book. It is more "real life" than fairy tale which is a great perspective.

I was left wanting more when I reached the end, which in turn is what I truly love in a good book!!
I thoroughly enjoyed Wright's dark, debut novel, which follows the relationship between a teen girl, trying to escape the emotional and cultural wasteland of her home and school, and a young vampire, forced to lose his humanity to be a monster. This is no Twilight tale, however. At its heart, Unvamped is a very non-traditional coming of age story, but also a horror story in the classic sense as it looks at outsiders in today's homogenous culture. You don't have to be a horror or vampire fan to enjoy Unvamped. All you have to be a fan of is a great story.
